Statistical Characterization of Supraharmonics in Low-Voltage Distribution Networks

Modern power systems are subject to waveform distortions that include spectral components (supraharmonics) in the range of 2–150 kHz. Due lack regulation this and since supraharmonics may follow time-varying patterns, operators can take advantage statistical characterization supraharmonics, e.g., for determining convenient quality limits or analyze residual capacity networks toward further installations electronic converters. This paper studies low-voltage distribution networks, considering both overall supraharmonic distortion (through total index) individual components. Several probability distributions proposed compared, also multimodal fit more general scenarios which emissions regime patterns. The outcome numerical experiments based on publicly available data collected at actual suggests useful characterizing most cases, with acceptable goodness fitting even presence stair-shaped empirical distributions. serve as a starting point development probabilistic system analysis tools accounting convergence standardization kHz range.
